Ben Chilwell Reacts to Pochettino’s sacking

Ben Chilwell has stated that Mauricio Pochettino's departure from Chelsea startled him, but he believes the new manager will continue where the Argentine left off the next campaign.

Despite having a challenging season, Chelsea was beginning to turn things around under Pochettino, who led the club to sixth place in the Premier League.

Although it was anticipated that Pochettino would still be in charge come football season, however, Pochettino and Chelsea decided to part ways.

Chilwell told Sky Sports that he was surprised by the announcement, when asked how he felt about it. 'Well, best of luck to him anywhere he goes in the future. I think with the team's performance at the conclusion of the campaign the dismissal was truly unexpected'.

‘And now, as a team, we must look forward. Regardless matter who is appointed as the next coach, I'm sure things will go well and we can move on well the next season. I won't explore the rumours of who might be appointed as the next coach.’

"I think you can kind of tell on the pitch the atmosphere has been brilliant," he said, speaking about Chelsea's season finale. "I think the inquiries were usually to do with, you know, if we could do it every week," he said. Additionally, you could see that the squad truly came together at the conclusion of the season, which was amazing to behold."

Chilwell has had injuries this season, but he hoped to recover in time to play for England in EUR0 2024, which begins in Germany the following month.

However, he was left out of Gareth Southgate's team because he was unable to regain his fitness in time. Chilwell stated, "Yeah, I think precisely that you have got to try and take the positive aspects with everything," after recognizing the advantages.

"I believe that this will be a great chance for me to take a break. If you look at it that way, you don't get to take extended breaks very frequently, so it will be wonderful to take a vacation, refresh, and return the next season."
