Chelsea makes Decision on Conor Gallagher

Chelsea has been looking to offload some of their players to ensure they are compliant with the FFP regulations. Some of the names that have been named to leave the bridge include Conor Gallagher.

Gallagher is an academy graduate and made a name for himself at Crystal Palace during the 2021/2022 season. Gallagher came back to Chelsea after his loan at Crystal Palace

Last campaign, he was arguably, Chelsea’s best midfielder. Additionally, he can also be considered Chelsea’s best player after Cole Palmer. He captained the team frequently in the absence of Reece James and Ben Chilwell.

Despite his great performance last season, Chelsea is still reported to be looking at offloading the mid-fielder who is on international duty with England at the Euro-2024.

One of the teams that have expressed an interest in the 24-year-old is Atletico Madrid. The Spanish giant finished fourth last season and looks to boost their squad by acquiring the service of Conor Gallagher. The La Liga side has been unable to meet Chelsea's 50 million valuation of the midfielder.

Reports in Spain indicate that Atletico would try to bring in Gallagher on loan which will be likely rejected by Chelsea. Chelsea will look at permanently selling the midfielder to help them balance their books.

With only one year remaining in his contract, other teams like Tottenham, Aston Villa, Newcastle, and West ham have also shown an interest in signing the midfielder. We wait to see how Chelsea will solve his situation after the Euro-2024.
