Gallagher Situation at Chelsea
Unai Emery's team is getting ready to play in the Champions League and Gallagher has become a possible transfer target for Aston Villa.
The Midlands
team, finished fourth in the Premier League the previous season, and are eager
to make a move for the Blues midfielder to improve their squad.
The
Athletic reports that Aston Villa and Chelsea have begun initial negotiations
on Gallagher's potential summer signing.
The
midfield player still has one year left on his current contract, and
discussions over a renewal have slowed down recently.
However,
if Chelsea rekindles their interest in Villa striker Jhon Duran, Aston Villa's
pursuit of Gallagher would be made simpler.
During the
January transfer window, Chelsea was reportedly interested in the attacker, and
the two-time European winners are still in awe of the 20-year-old.
It's said
that the Blues are interested to see Duran play and would be willing to bring
him to Stamford Bridge.
All
possibility of a Gallagher and Duran trade, though, has already been
eliminated.
The
Telegraph, revealed that Gallagher would only leave Chelsea in a permanent.
This is
due to Chelsea's preference to keep all proceeds from any prospective sale of
Gallagher in to accomplish sustainability and profit objectives.
Gallagher
is valued by Chelsea at around £50 million, so his sale may significantly lessen
any potential financial strain.
Gallagher
looks set to be included in England's eventual 26-man roster, any decision over
his future may need to wait until after the 2024 Euro games.
However,
the Chelsea academy graduate has made no secret of his intention to remain at
Stamford Bridge, and Gallagher most recently hinted at his future plans.
Regarding
Enzo Maresca's appointment, the 24-year-old remarked to Sky Sports, "I've
seen really good things as well as I've heard really good things."Everyone
at Chelsea, including myself, is ecstatic to be working with him.
"We
want to get Chelsea back to where they belong, so hopefully, with the new
manager, we can start to progress and get to where we belong."
Selling Gallagher will be a massive mistake
