Enzo Maresca makes decision on Chelsea Center-back

Chelsea has added Tosin Adarabioyo to the list of center-backs at the Club. The defender joined Chelsea from Fulham on a free transfer. Tosin Adarabioyo is considered Thiago Silva’s replacement who left after four years at the club.

Chelsea has several centre-backs at the club and it would be interesting to see Enzo Maresca’s preferred partnership in the coming season.

Trevoh Chalobah was one of the best defenders at Chelsea at the end of the season. However, Chelsea have been keen on offloading the defender to help balance their books. Various teams have shown interest in the centre back including Manchester United and Bayern Munich. The defender is an academy player and prefers staying at the bridge and fighting for his position in the team.

Bayern have also shown interest in Levi Colwill who Chelsea consider untouchable.

Let us look at the current center-backs at Chelsea before deciding on the best partnership that could start the majority of games under Enzo Maresca.

The center-backs at Chelsea include Tosin Adarabioyo, Malang Sarr, Wesley Fofana, Axel Disasi, Trevoh Chalobah, Levi Colwill, Benoît Badiashile, and Alfie Gilchrist.

Enzo Maresca will have a difficult time deciding on the best partnership among the defenders. Wesley Fofana was not heavily involved during the previous campaign because of injury.

With all the centre-backs present and fit during the 2024-2025 season, the best pairing would be Levi Colwill and Tosin Adarabiayo. Tosin Adarabiayo will provide the needed experience and organization in the defense. On the other hand, Levi Colwill has shown that he is one of the best young centre-backs during his time at Brighton and the few times he played for Chelsea last season.

Fofana is also an excellent defender but he has a poor injury record hence it would not be advisable to build the defense around him. Chalobah is also great and I believe he will get more minutes this coming season.

Chelsea should sell Malang Sarr because he is not Chelsea’s quality. Additionally, Chelsea should also get rid of either Badiashile or Disasi.

The pre-season will give the coach adequate time to know the centre-backs and decide the pairing that would help him implement his tactics.

Chelsea confident of signing Michael Olise

  Chelsea have been negotiating to sign Michael Olise since the end of the season. Chelsea look to boost their squad as they prepare for the 2024-2025 season. Michael Olise was exceptional for Crystal Palace last campaign and Chelsea believe that he will be a great addition to the team. Chelsea Consider using Nkunku as a striker

Media outlets have been reporting that Chelsea has been in the market in search of a striker to compete with Nicholas Jackson. Chelsea have failed to agree deals for their top targets including Benjamins Sesko and Jhon Duran.
