Chelsea should keep Nicholas Jackson as their main striker

Chelsea should stick with Nicholas Jackson as their main striker in the 2024-2025 season. Nicholas Jackson joined Chelsea from Villareal last summer in a deal worth €35 million. He signed an eight-year deal at Stamford Bridge indicating the club had long-term plans for him.

Jackson had a mixed first season at Chelsea. Jackson scored 19 goals in every competition and assisted 8 times during the 2023-2024 campaign. These are not bad numbers for a young striker in his first season in a new league.

Even though the Senegalese has only spent one season in Chelsea, the Blues are working to bring in a new striker to provide competition for Jackson. However, Signing a new striker would be a bad idea and hinder Jackson’s development.

Jackson should be afforded a new season to allow him to gel with the team and help him get to his best form. If Cole Palmer will have the same impact as he did last season, then much pressure will be relieved on Nicholas Jackson and this could help him improve his performance.

Additionally, Chelsea could also rely on goals from Nkunku during the 2024/2025 season. The French international was injured for the majority of the 2023/2024 season hence the Chelsea fans did not see him at his best. If he remains fit during the 2024/2025 season, he could help Chelsea solve its goals problem.

The success and pressure on Nicholas Jackson heavily rely on the form and performance of Cole Palmer and Nkunku. If the two forwards can provide enough goals hence the pressure on Nicholas Jackson would be minimal.
