Chelsea injury updates
Chelsea has a challenging assignment in their attempt to defeat Manchester City and go to their fourth FA Cup final in five years. Chelsea enter the match having drawn both of their previous Premier League encounters against Pep Guardiola's team, 1-1 and 4-4.
A win in this match would be the greatest
accomplishment in Mauricio Pochettino's Chelsea career. After losing to
Liverpool in the February Carabao Cup, he hopes to make it into the final of
both local competitions on his first try.
Chelsea came into the match off the back of holding
Manchester at the Etihad Stadium and are heading to Wembley in excellent form
after defeating Everton 6-0 on Monday. It has been over two months since
Chelsea lost within 90 minutes despite humiliating draws against Brentford,
Burnley, and Sheffield United.
An injury crisis plagued Chelsea during this period;
we look at the list of injured players below.
Enzo
Fernandez. Enzo Fernandez is undergoing medical examination',
according to Chelsea's website. According to sources, he has a soreness in the
adductor muscle. He was not included in the club's squad to face Everton.
However, he could feature in Chelsea's game against Manchester City.
Axel
Disasi. Axel Disasi is undergoing medical examination'.
Throughout his career, Disasi has maintained an excellent injury record. He
missed from the line-up that defeated Everton on Monday.
Noni
Madueke. Noni Madueke was substituted in the 72nd minute
against Everton after being involved in a series of aggressive tackles that
necessitated him to be examined by club physios. Despite his number being
displayed, Madueke was attempting to convey to the bench that he was okay with
continuing with the game.
Robert
Sanchez. Sanchez has had fitness issues throughout this
season. He is absent due to illness.
Levi
Colwill. Levi Colwill is 'continuing his recovery process'.
He has been battling a toe injury that has led him to be side-lined from some
important Chelsea matches, and he has not played in more than four weeks.
Raheem
Sterling. Sterling has been fit for the better part of the
season but is also absent due to an illness.
Reece
James. Reece James is continuing his recovery programme.
The skipper has just resumed healing after a hamstring operation at the end of
last year.
Christopher
Nkunku. Christopher Nkunku has been injured for most of the
season. According to the club's website, the forward is continuing with his
rehabilitation.
Romeo
Lavia. Romeo Lavia is 'continuing his recovery treatment'.
The 20-year-old midfielder has only played once for Chelsea this season, unable
to remain fit and avoid injury.
Lesley
Ugochukwu. Lesley Ugochukwu continues to undergo his
rehabilitation therapy." The midfielder last played in December and has
been absent since, with no more updates.
Wesley
Fofana. Wesley Fofana is continuing his recovery therapy.
The defender has resumed training but is still expected to be out for a lengthy
time.
